Anthropic on 2 oktober 2026 announced the launch of Claude Frontier Academy, an enterprise training initiative backed by a $100 million commitment, with a stated goal of training 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers by the end of 2027. Engineers from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA.AX ), Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley (MS ) and Novo Nordisk are in the first cohorts, which are running in San Francisco, New York and London.

Anthropic described the Academy as the first of its kind from an AI company, built from its own work deploying Claude inside large enterprises and the professional services organizations that serve them. The company said the program targets what it calls one of the most pressing issues in AI implementation: talent. Inside the companies Anthropic works with, it said, a small group of deeply skilled people drives an outsized share of what AI delivers.

“No AI company has invested in developing that talent inside its customers and partners at this depth. Claude Frontier Academy trains people the way our own engineers learn, and we want those who graduate to set the standard for how AI gets built inside a business,” said Steve Corfield, Global Head of Business Development and Partnerships at Anthropic.

How the Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency Works

The Academy’s first program, the Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency, follows what Anthropic calls the medical model for building expertise: engineers learn from practitioners, practice on realistic cases, and are assessed on their work before they earn the credential. The program is designed for hands-on software engineers with strong fundamentals, a record of building with large language models, and experience helping others adopt AI. Organizations nominate their engineers, and each arrives with a named Claude project to lead on their return. Prior experience building AI agents is not required.

According to the Academy’s program page, the residency begins with a four-day intensive. Residents spend three days in person building a Claude system for a simulated enterprise, working from the first customer request through security review to handover. On the fourth day they are graded on a new scenario, and those who pass earn a Claude Resident Engineer badge.

Graduates then complete a 12-week residency leading a real Claude deployment at their own organization, with cohort-based mentorship and support from Anthropic engineers. Residents are assessed again at the end of the 12 weeks on a final practical, and those who pass earn the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer badge.

Participation is by nomination, and organizations can ask their Anthropic account team or Partner Account Manager whether they are eligible. The program is in early access with a select group of customers and partners, and Anthropic said it expects to expand it to meet demand.

Accenture said joining the Academy will deepen its engineers’ Claude expertise. “Anthropic built the residency the same way we think about the role: judgment tested against a simulated enterprise deployment, not technical skills in isolation,” the firm said.

Commonwealth Bank of Australia said its engineers use AI tools every day and that its teams produced up to 3x more code changes in the past year. Deloitte said the residency allows it to scale a discipline it has already tested in the field. Novo Nordisk cited Claude Science in its research and development workflows, lab-in-the-loop research in drug discovery, and Anthropic engineers working alongside its scientists. McKinsey said the residency sets the standard for how its technologists apply Claude in client work, and Capgemini said working side by side with Anthropic’s own engineers builds the delivery excellence that clients recognize.

Built on the Claude Partner Network

Anthropic said the Academy builds on the Claude Partner Network, where professionals across 46,000 firms have earned more than 175,000 Claude certifications and nearly 4,000 people have completed Basecamp, an immersive program that teaches the curriculum the company’s Applied AI teams receive when they onboard.

Anthropic launched the Claude Partner Network on 12 mars 2026 with a separate initial $100 million commitment for 2026 covering training courses, dedicated technical support and joint market development, and said at the time that it was scaling its partner-facing team fivefold. That launch also introduced the first Claude technical certification, Claude Certified Architect, Foundations.

In a 23 juli 2026 post expanding the program to four role-based certifications, Anthropic reported that more than 36,000 consultants had been certified across more than 1,300 organizations since March, and that more than 400,000 people had completed Claude training in 2026 through Anthropic Partner Academy, its free training platform for partners. The post listed firm-level certification commitments including Accenture at 50,000 professionals, PwC at 30,000, Capgemini and DXC at 20,000 each, Deloitte and KPMG at 15,000 each, and Cognizant, Infosys and TCS at 10,000 each.

Claude certification exams are proctored and identity-verified, delivered with Pearson through Pearson Professional Assessments, with digital badges issued through Credly by Pearson. Certified-practitioner counts determine a firm’s standing in the Claude Partner Network, Anthropic said.

Anthropic expects to award the first Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer credentials in early 2027. The company said additional Academy programs will be announced in 2027 and characterized the 10,000-engineer target as a first step.
