LUKSO (LYX ) is an Ethereum (ETH ) -compatible Proof-of-Stake layer one focused on digital identity, social applications, creators, communities, and programmable assets. Its main innovation is a family of LUKSO Standards Proposals (LSPs), including Universal Profiles, permission managers, and richer token and NFT interfaces.
LYX is the native coin used for gas and validator staking. It is different from the former Ethereum-based LYXe migration token and valueless testnet LYXt.

What Is LUKSO?
LUKSO uses an unmodified Ethereum execution and consensus architecture, allowing developers to reuse Solidity, Ethereum clients, wallets, and familiar tooling. It then adds application-level standards intended to improve identity, permissions, metadata, assets, and onboarding.
The network is positioned for social and creative applications rather than only DeFi. Its ecosystem includes profiles, communities, collectibles, marketplaces, creator tools, mini-apps, and other applications built around persistent smart accounts.
EVM compatibility lowers development friction but also means LUKSO competes directly with Ethereum, layer twos, and many other smart-contract networks for users and liquidity.
Universal Profiles
A Universal Profile is a smart-contract account based on ERC725 and several LUKSO standards. It can store public profile information, hold assets, execute transactions, interact with applications, and assign granular permissions to multiple controllers.
This differs from a conventional externally owned wallet controlled by one private key. An LSP6 Key Manager can let one key manage assets, another update profile data, and another use a specific application without granting every controller unlimited authority.
Universal Profiles can also support social recovery or relay-sponsored transactions when applications implement those features. They do not eliminate account risk: poorly configured permissions, malicious controllers, insecure recovery, or vulnerable contracts can still cause loss.
LUKSO Standards Proposals
LSPs are reusable specifications for accounts, metadata, token transfers, permissions, notifications, vaults, relayed calls, and social relationships. Important examples include:
- LSP0: an ERC725-based smart account;
- LSP1: a universal receiver that lets accounts react to incoming interactions;
- LSP3: standardized profile metadata;
- LSP6: permission management through a Key Manager;
- LSP7: a flexible digital-asset interface;
- LSP8: an identifiable digital-asset interface used for richer NFTs; and
- LSP25: relay execution that can support sponsored or gasless user interactions.
Standards create value when many independent applications adopt them. Technically elegant specifications alone do not guarantee network effects.
LSP7 and LSP8 Digital Assets
LSP7 and LSP8 extend familiar fungible-token and NFT concepts with standardized metadata, transfer notifications, more expressive identifiers, and integration with Universal Profiles.
An account can automatically record received assets and react to transfers. Metadata can be structured and updated under the contract’s rules, supporting dynamic assets, evolving memberships, or creator-defined experiences.
Flexibility adds complexity. Wallets, marketplaces, indexers, and users must understand permissions and metadata mutability. An “NFT 2.0” label does not guarantee authenticity, permanence, intellectual-property rights, or market demand.
The Grid and Social Applications
LUKSO’s consumer-facing ecosystem centers on Universal Profiles and The Grid, where a profile can display interactive mini-apps, widgets, collections, and community experiences.
This attempts to make an onchain account feel more like a portable social profile than an exchange wallet. Applications can recognize the same identity and assets without requiring the user to recreate a profile for every service.
The model faces a cold-start problem. Profiles become useful when many applications read and enrich them, while developers build only if enough users already exist. Investors should track recurring profile activity, not just accounts created through subsidized onboarding.
LYX Staking and Network Security
LUKSO uses Proof-of-Stake closely aligned with Ethereum’s consensus model. Validators propose and attest to blocks, earning issuance and fees while facing penalties for downtime and slashing for serious faults.
Current network documentation allows a validator key to hold between 32 and 2,048 LYX following the Pectra-era upgrade. Holders who do not operate infrastructure can use third-party staking providers, but those services introduce custody, contract, governance, and concentration risks.
Staking rewards vary with total participation and network conditions. They are not a fixed yield and should be evaluated against issuance, fee burns, operating expenses, provider fees, taxes, and LYX price movements.
LYX Supply and Utility
LUKSO Mainnet launched in May 2023 with an initial supply of 42 million LYX. Supply now changes through validator issuance and transaction-fee burning under its Ethereum-style protocol, so investors should monitor current onchain supply rather than repeat the genesis number as a permanent cap.
LYX is used to:
- pay gas: execute transfers, deploy contracts, and use LUKSO applications;
- stake: fund validators and secure consensus;
- reward validators: compensate block proposals and attestations; and
- support application activity: serve as the native settlement asset across profiles and DApps.
LYXe was the pre-mainnet Ethereum representation. The official migration has ended. LYXt belongs to LUKSO Testnet and has no monetary value.
Benefits of LUKSO
- Ethereum compatibility: developers can reuse mature clients, languages, and tooling.
- Smart-account identity: Universal Profiles combine profile data, assets, execution, and permissions.
- Granular control: LSP6 can assign limited roles instead of sharing a master key.
- Richer assets: LSP7 and LSP8 support standardized notifications and metadata.
- Sponsored onboarding: relay calls can let applications pay a new user’s gas.
- Native token demand: LYX is directly required for gas and staking.
- Active standards work: documentation and contract libraries continued receiving updates in 2026.
Risks to Consider Before Investing in LYX
- Adoption risk: profiles and standards need persistent use across independent applications.
- Competition: Ethereum smart accounts, account abstraction, social protocols, and other creator chains target similar users.
- Liquidity risk: LUKSO’s ecosystem and token markets are smaller than leading smart-contract platforms.
- Smart-account risk: permission mistakes, controller compromise, relayers, or recovery systems can cause losses.
- Contract risk: LSP implementations and connected applications may contain vulnerabilities despite audits.
- Validator risk: operators can suffer downtime, penalties, or slashing.
- Issuance risk: validator rewards expand supply while low usage may produce limited fee burns.
- Metadata risk: updatable assets can change unexpectedly or rely on unavailable offchain files.
- Concentration risk: foundations, founders, staking providers, exchanges, or early holders can influence the ecosystem.
- Migration confusion: LYX, LYXe, and LYXt can be mistaken for one another.
- Regulatory risk: identity, creator economies, tokens, and digital collectibles face changing rules.
What Investors Should Monitor
Track active Universal Profiles, repeat users, profile transactions, independent applications, developer releases, LSP adoption outside first-party interfaces, gas use, validator count and concentration, staking participation, issuance, fee burns, contract audits, security incidents, ecosystem liquidity, bridge activity, and retention after sponsored onboarding ends.
Profiles created is an easy number to inflate. Monthly active profiles, contract interactions, third-party application retention, and fee-generating usage are stronger indicators.
How to Buy LUKSO (LYX)
LYX is available on selected centralized and decentralized exchanges. Listings and withdrawal support vary.
KuCoin – Lists LYX in supported jurisdictions; restrictions apply.
Gate.io – Offers LYX trading for eligible international customers.
Confirm that the exchange supports native LUKSO Mainnet withdrawals. Do not purchase testnet LYXt, and note that the historical LYXe migration is closed.
LUKSO Outlook
LUKSO offers a coherent technical thesis: Ethereum-compatible execution combined with smart accounts, portable profiles, richer assets, and permission-aware applications. The standards are active and the network is operational.
The investment outcome depends on user and developer network effects. LYX demand becomes more durable if Universal Profiles become recurring identities across independent products and if application activity produces meaningful gas and staking demand.
Review the official network history and supply information, LSP documentation, and validator guidance before investing.
