Using a specialized gaming chain makes routine transactions cheaper than executing every action on Ethereum mainnet. It also introduces dependencies on Immutable’s network, bridges, wallets, account systems, marketplaces, and migration tooling.

What Is the ILV Token Used For?

ILV is the ecosystem’s governance and incentive token. Its principal functions include:

• Governance: ILV holders can participate in the Illuvium DAO’s proposal and council system.
• Staking: Holders can lock ILV through Staking V2, subject to contract, price, liquidity, and lock-up risks.

What Is sILV2?

sILV2 is a synthetic reward token that can be selected instead of vested ILV for certain staking rewards. It is designed for use within the Illuvium ecosystem and is not simply a second freely interchangeable version of ILV. Its utility, acceptance, redemption assumptions, and liquidity differ from the main token.

The original article referred to “sILV” and a then-current 2022 security incident. That information is obsolete. Investors should verify the current Staking V2 interface, supported contracts, and claim terms directly before interacting with either ILV or sILV2.

Revenue Distribution Is Not the Same as Equity

Illuvium’s revenue-distribution design is one of ILV’s most distinctive features. Under the documented model, eligible ecosystem revenue can enter a Vault, be used to acquire ILV, and then be distributed to qualifying stakers. • Execution risk: Overworld has changed direction after years of development. The proposed MMO still needs to prove quality, scalability, and player retention.
