The Sandbox Teams Up with Tony Hawk for a Metaverse-Based Project

The cryptocurrency market has seen a significant drop in prices as a consequence of the bear market that took over the industry back in November 2021. However, in terms of development, the industry is thriving more than ever, with new projects being announced almost daily, new partnerships emerging around the world, and with new users being attracted to DeFi, Web3, and, of course, the metaverse.
The most recent example of the latter includes Tony Hawk, a skateboarding legend, who just announced on July 13th that he intends to build the world’s largest skatepark. However, the skatepark will be built in the metaverse, and to make it happen, Tony Hawk joined up with The Sandbox.

The Sandbox is a major metaverse project that offers easy-to-use development tools, thus allowing its users to build their own games. Its partnership with Tony Hawk is one of the largest ones that the project has made so far. There is even a video explaining how it would all look like and work, revealing the upcoming marketplace for selling skateboards and other skate accessories.
What is known about the project so far?
The skatepark will be known as the Tony Hawk LAND, and it will feature 36 unique plots of land based on the details that The Sandbox offered. This will be more than enough to actually make it the world’s biggest skating park. In fact, Tony Hawk noted that it will be unlike anything seen before, which is quite a promise coming from him.
In the past, Hawk’s game series managed to bring over $1.4 billion, with skateparks and routes of all kinds. To announce something bigger, better, and more interesting than anything else he has helped create so far is a big deal for skateboarding fans all over the world.
Hawk further noted that he has been a fan of technology throughout his life and that he is fascinated by the metaverse and very excited to bring the skateboarding culture into The Sandbox’s ecosystem.
However, neither Tony Hawk nor The Sandbox revealed when the skatepark might be complete and available for users to play the game.
Autograph joins the partners
The two are not working on the project alone, however, another project, Autograph, will join up with them in order to create NFTs and avatars for the game, based on Tony Hawk and his most iconic gear skateboards, clothing, and alike.
Autograph’s CEO, Dillon Rosenblatt, noted that the company was very excited to work with both Tony Hawk and The Sandbox, as this will be a highly immersive experience. More than that, it is a kind of project that would be impossible to create without the metaverse.
He further noted that a project like this is exactly what Autograph seeks, as the company’s goal is to build otherwise impossible experiences and show the power of the blockchain to the fans and communities that have been waiting for a long time to get another Tony Hawk game.
As for Hawk himself, with this move, he joined hundreds of other successful artists, companies, and brands that are betting on the success of the metaverse.
