‘STOKR’ First Digital Securities Issuance Platform to be Granted VASP Registration in European Union

STOKR is a platform which specializes in hosting capital raises for digital securities, often known as a Digital Securities Issuance or ‘DSO'.  Companies dealing with securities must adhere to strict regulations, with STOKR being no different.  In a promising development, the company has now announced that it has been successful in its bid to become registered as a Virtual Asset Service Provider, having been granted this status by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF).

What is Means

By attaining this registration, STOKR notes that it becomes the first company outside of the United States to offer the following capabilities.

  • Exchange integrations with regulated securities trading venues
  • Independent KYC and AML checks

These abilities, combined with regulatory compliant operations mean that digital securities investors and issuers alike can rest easy, knowing that the appropriate oversight and safeguards are taking place throughout STOKR operations.

Select Company

It should be noted that attaining VASP registration by the CSSF is not an everyday occurrence.  As it stands, STOKR joins the following companies as the select few to have also been approved to date.

  • BitFlyer
  • Bitstamp
  • Coinhouse
  • Joompay
  • PayPal
  • Swissquote Bank

Upon announcing its registration as a VSAP within the EU, STOKR Co-founder Tobias Seibl took the time to comment.

“Situated in Luxembourg, we are extremely happy having obtained the registration by one of the most experienced financial regulators in the virtual asset space. At STOKR, we will strive to facilitate enhanced processes for KYC/AML services, providing institutions, asset managers, and investors with all needed assurance to thrive in this next generation market.”

Past DSOs

Over the past few years, STOKR has been making a name for itself as somewhat of a trailblazer.  While many companies focused on fleeting fads like NFTs, a select few saw the potential behind digital securities and began to build the necessary infrastructure and platforms to support their inevitably bright future.

Over this time, STOKR notes that it has, “…supported the tokenization of over 60M US$ assets”.  These tokenization events have included DSOs from companies like MazzantiBlockstream, Infinite Fleet, Aquarius, and more.
