Detroit Defense Secures Four-Year Army Vehicle Software IDIQ

Detroit Defense received a four-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with a $49.9 million ceiling from Army Contracting Command–Detroit Arsenal to develop, integrate, field and sustain the U.S. Army’s Data Integration for Ground Systems (DIGS) and Digital Logbook capabilities, according to its November 2, 2026 announcement distributed by PR Newswire.
The competitive Commercial Solutions Opening award runs through September 2030. It covers continuous DLB software sustainment and integration of both capabilities on new and legacy platforms within the Combat Capabilities Development Command Ground Vehicle Systems Center Software Engineering Center in Warren, Michigan. Detroit Defense works alongside center engineers, and all software created under the contract is delivered to the Army with Government Purpose Rights. Fielding work extends to units inside and outside the continental United States and includes kitting, installation, New Equipment Training and Field Service Representative support.
Initial Task Orders and Fielding
Two initial task orders provide $8.06 million for the first increment of work: DIGS and DLB engineering, test and sustainment support within the software center, plus DIGS fielding to more than 20 self-propelled howitzer battalions. Self-propelled howitzers are the first platform group under the contract. Detroit Defense will configure and kit systems at its Sterling Heights, Michigan, facility before installing them and providing training and support at individual units. The Commercial Solutions Opening establishes a repeatable process for adding other combat or tactical platforms designated by the Army.
Separately, AR1, a joint venture of Detroit Defense and ACE Electronics, received a $1.66 million task order under the Defense Logistics Agency’s Gateway to Readiness contract. It calls for DIGS sets to be delivered to locations inside and outside the continental United States in 2027 for Product Manager Army Watercraft Systems. Covered systems include Landing Craft Utility and Logistic Support Vessels, Modular Causeway Systems and the Maneuver Support Vessel-Light. The watercraft work also includes instructor training, technical manual development and introduction of a new compact charging case for the Maneuver Support Vessel-Light.
Digital Maintenance and Predictive Sustainment
DIGS and DLB replace paper-based maintenance processes with a single validated digital workflow. Maintainers use ruggedized tablets to run diagnostics, access Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals and connect to the Global Combat Support System–Army. The system generates DA Form 5988-E entries directly from vehicle sensor data rather than requiring manual transcription. The company attributes reduced manual data entry, more accurate maintenance records, shorter parts order-to-receipt timelines and clearer equipment-readiness visibility to the workflow.
“These awards move DIGS and Digital Logbook from proven capability to scaled fielding across Army artillery and watercraft formations,” said Nathan Clark, Detroit Defense’s senior vice president of mission systems.
Foundational DIGS data will also feed predictive-maintenance and fleet-readiness analytics applications that Detroit Defense is extending with the 1st Cavalry Division under an earlier Army Applications Laboratory award. An October 5, 2026 announcement distributed by ACCESS Newswire (ACCS ) said the laboratory, in coordination with the division, awarded that contract for tactical wheeled vehicles at Fort Hood, Texas.
The earlier effort builds on Authority to Operate-approved DIGS and DLB programs and adds AI-powered digital preventive-maintenance checks and services, motor-pool and echelon decision-support applications. Detroit Defense is prime contractor and lead systems integrator for a five-company team comprising Parker Hannifin, PredictiveIQ, Persistent Systems (PERSISTENT.BO ), Getac and itself. The October announcement scheduled initial deliveries for fall 2026, followed by refinement and Soldier-led validation during large-scale training exercises through summer 2027.
