Zilliqa has announced incorporating the ZRC-7 standard for non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The standard will offer a unified framework for NFTs running on the Zilliqa blockchain.

Zilliqa's ZRC-7 standard

The ZRC-7 standard is used in the structure of NFT metadata, and it offers support to other previously used standards of ZRC-1 and ZRC-6. By standardizing the NFT metadata, ZRC-7 makes it easier for NFT creators and developers to execute the metadata more conveniently.

The unveiling of this new standard comes from the feedback garnered from the Zilliqa community. The NFT sector has rapidly grown, which has come with changes. These changes need to be accommodated within the blockchain.

Through the ZRC-7 standard, the NFT metadata structure has been altered to support more resources for the media type (MIME).

The Zilliqa blockchain has seen an influx in NFT activity. Some of the leading NFT marketplaces now available on the blockchain include the Sparda Wallet that has integrated with Zilpay. Mintable, a leading NFT marketplace, also runs on the Zilliqa blockchain, and it allows NFT creators to develop and sell their digital collectables via the network.

Other NFT marketplaces in the network include Zilstars, DeMons, Arky and Okimoto. The latter is a unique NFT marketplace running on the Zilliqa blockchain whose sales fees are 0%.

Zilliqa listed on JBEX

The Zilliqa token is also making notable gains. The token will be listed on the Jubi exchange, making it even more available in the cryptocurrency sector. The listing could boost the trading volumes and contribute to major gains for ZIL.

Zilliqa is already available on some of the largest cryptocurrency exchange platforms such as Binance, KuCoin, Binance US, HTX, Gate.io and more. Due to the recession across the broader cryptocurrency market, ZIL has not been performing well over the past month. However, during the past 24 hours, ZIL has gained over 14% to trade at $0.0391 at the time of writing. Currently, ZIL is 84.8% below its all-time high of $0.255 reported in May last year.
