Sasken Wins Multi-Year Telematics Engineering Programme

Sasken Technologies (SASKEN.BO ) announced a multi-year engineering engagement on November 5, 2026, with the software company of an unnamed leading European automotive group. The work covers development and commercialisation of next-generation telematics control units (TCUs) for global vehicle platforms; no contract value was disclosed.
The assignment spans software development, systems integration, hardware engineering and validation. Sasken’s responsibility extends from platform architecture and hardware development through software integration, testing and commercial deployment, giving it a role across the product lifecycle rather than a single software workstream. The precise duration, unit volumes, start date and production timetable were not disclosed.
Telematics platforms support connected services, over-the-air updates, diagnostics, fleet management, cybersecurity and future mobility applications. That breadth helps explain why the programme draws on cellular technologies, modem platforms, embedded software, hardware engineering and system validation. The joint engineering teams are targeting production-grade systems that meet the performance, quality and reliability requirements of global vehicle programmes.
Engineering Across Markets
Sasken’s telematics documentation provides background on the technical demands of such work. It describes vehicle-to-everything (V2X) integration into TCUs, multi-modem configurations across 3G, 4G, LTE and 5G, and integration of GPS/GNSS and vehicle-network peripherals. Its security capabilities include secure boot and communications, hardware security modules, sandboxing and key management.
Multi-market deployment also makes validation a substantial part of the engineering task. The same documentation identifies differing national safety rules and V2X technologies, certification requirements, antenna and radio-frequency design, and multiple network sessions as challenges. Its general testing offering spans connectivity, field and navigation testing, firmware-over-the-air testing, feature validation and performance testing, alongside pre-certification and certification support. Those activities connect the programme’s hardware and software work to its objective of product readiness and deployment across multiple international markets.
Delivery and Commercial Significance
Delivery will use Sasken’s global engineering organisation, combining specialised automotive expertise in Europe with its broader product-engineering capabilities. Sasken and customer engineering teams will collaborate across hardware design, software development, integration and validation.
Tero Pernu, Sasken’s head of business for Finland and the EU, said the selection demonstrated customer confidence in its ability to support complex connectivity programmes across hardware, software and validation. “By combining our automotive engineering capabilities with advanced connectivity and product development expertise, we will help accelerate the delivery of next-generation telematics solutions to global markets,” he said.
Rajiv C. Mody, Sasken’s chairperson, managing director and CEO, characterised the engagement as demonstrating its ability to support global automotive OEMs across hardware, software and connectivity, and as reinforcing its long-term automotive growth strategy.
The engagement broadens Sasken’s lifecycle responsibility for an unnamed customer’s TCU programme as vehicle services increasingly depend on reliable connectivity. Commercial deployment is now the milestone that will establish how that engineering responsibility translates into production scale.
