Vertiv Agrees to Acquire Ireland’s King Environmental Services

Critical digital infrastructure provider Vertiv Holdings Co announced on September 24, 2026 that it has entered into an agreement to acquire King Environmental Services Ltd. (KES), a Europe-based provider of fluid management, commissioning and load-testing services for high-density, liquid-cooled data centers and other applications. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed and, Vertiv stated, are not expected to be material to its financial results.
KES is headquartered near Dublin, Ireland, and serves customers across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Vertiv said the planned acquisition is expected to expand its global thermal management services capabilities into EMEA and advance its strategy to support customers across the thermal chain. KES adds specialized fluid management, commissioning and load-testing capabilities spanning system preparation, performance validation, monitoring, maintenance and lifecycle optimization, according to the company.
Vertiv said the transaction builds on its established North American fluid management presence, including its 2025 acquisition of PurgeRite, and represents the next step in expanding its global thermal and fluid management services platform. By combining KES’s regional field expertise and load-testing capabilities with Vertiv’s broader services portfolio, the company expects to provide more comprehensive support as customers deploy and operate complex AI and high-density infrastructure.
“As computing density increases, the performance of cooling and power infrastructure will depend as much on execution in the field as on engineering and system design,” said Gio Albertazzi, CEO of Vertiv. “Our acquisition of PurgeRite, in December of 2025, established an important fluid management foundation in North America, and KES is expected to build on that foundation in EMEA.”
Vertiv said the combined companies are expected to deliver customer benefits from an expanded set of capabilities designed to reduce operational complexity through a single accountable partner for commissioning, testing, fluid management and ongoing operations; improve cooling system performance with clean, balanced and validated fluid systems that support heat transfer and equipment efficiency; maintain compliance with regional fluid handling, treatment and disposal requirements; and increase confidence in infrastructure readiness through thermal load testing before facilities enter operation.
According to the announcement, high-performance computing and AI workloads increase heat densities and accelerate the adoption of liquid cooling, and fluid quality in these systems is critical to uptime, thermal performance and equipment life. Contamination, trapped air, corrosion, improper chemistry and flow imbalances can reduce heat-transfer efficiency, contribute to equipment degradation and create commissioning and operational risks. Beyond initial commissioning, the company said, customers need lifecycle fluid management services to support system availability, thermal performance, equipment longevity and operational economics.
Vertiv described KES as having built a strong reputation in Europe based on its technical specialization, experienced field teams, established operating infrastructure and safety culture. KES’s capabilities include fluid-system preparation, flushing, filtration, water treatment, commissioning and performance validation, along with thermal load testing for liquid cooling infrastructure and electrical load testing for critical power systems.
King Environmental Services
KES was established in 2002 by Managing Director Tim King and specializes in data centre and pharmaceutical HVAC testing and handover, providing complete handover packages for HVAC commissioning, water treatment and heat load testing, according to the company’s About page. KES states that it maintains an integrated quality, health and safety and environmental management system in accordance with ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007, and that it is a corporate member of the Building Services Research & Information Association (BSRIA) and the Commissioning Specialists Association (CSA).
The KES website lists additional service lines including cleanroom validation for the pharmaceutical, medical device, semi-conductor and healthcare industries and Building Information Modelling (BIM) consultancy, as well as a project list that includes confidential data centres in Denmark and Dublin, Equinix Woking in the UK, the Central Bank in Dublin, Pfizer Grangecastle in Dublin and St James Hospital in Dublin. The company lists its head office at City North Business Campus in Stamullen, Co. Meath, Ireland, and a second office in Sligo.
The PurgeRite Acquisition
The KES agreement follows Vertiv’s purchase of Purge Rite Intermediate LLC (PurgeRite), a Houston, Texas-based provider of mechanical flushing, purging and filtration services for data centers and other mission-critical facilities. Vertiv announced on November 3, 2025 that it had agreed to acquire PurgeRite from Milton Street Capital LLC for approximately US$1.0 billion in cash consideration at closing, plus potential additional consideration of up to $250 million in cash based on achieving certain 2026 performance metrics.
Vertiv stated at the time that the approximately $1.0 billion purchase price represented approximately 10.0x expected 2026 earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA), including expected cost synergies, and that the expected EBITDA multiple was anticipated to be lower than 10.0x if the earn-out is paid. The company also said the PurgeRite acquisition was anticipated to be margin accretive to its Services business, which operates above corporate average margins. According to the November 2025 announcement, Stifel acted as sole financial advisor to Vertiv and Buchanan, Ingersoll & Rooney PC provided legal counsel, while Harris Williams acted as financial advisor to PurgeRite and DLA Piper LLP (US) provided legal counsel. That transaction was subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976.
Vertiv announced the completion of the approximately $1.0 billion PurgeRite acquisition on December 4, 2025. According to the completion announcement, PurgeRite has established strong relationships with hyperscalers and Tier 1 colocation providers, and its services support complex liquid cooling applications across the thermal chain from chillers to coolant distribution units (CDUs).
