Schwab Brings Anthropic’s Claude to 16,000-Plus Independent RIAs

Schwab Advisor Services, the Charles Schwab (SCHW ) business that supports the growth and success of independent registered investment advisors (RIAs), announced on September 14, 2026 that it is working with Anthropic to bring Claude for Financial Advisors, Anthropic’s new offering, directly to the 16,000-plus independent RIAs Schwab serves. The release, datelined Westlake, Texas, and Huntington Beach, California, states that Schwab Advisor Services is the first RIA custodian included in Claude for Financial Advisors, and an attached FAQ states it is currently the only RIA custodian providing integration with Claude through the offering.
The release’s FAQ defines Claude for Financial Advisors as Anthropic’s comprehensive suite of connectors and workflow skills, designed to help with research, preparation, and documentation tasks that occupy an advisor’s time and keep them from client-facing work. The offering is designed to support the work advisors complete throughout a day, from prepping for a client meeting to helping explain a portfolio change, and it features skills and new connectors to tools firms already use to run their businesses, including CRM, custody, portfolio reporting, financial planning, estate planning, and meetings.
Per the FAQ, the offering brings together the tools RIAs use daily through MCP connectors, a library of advisor skills and plugins, and agents that handle pre- and post-meeting work as well as CRM updates. RIAs will access Schwab Advisor Center (SAC.com) from Claude through an authenticated connection, and the offering is available to RIAs on the Schwab Advisor Services custody platform. The solution is built to work with, not in place of, the technology stack advisors already use, and it includes audit logs for administrators to review. Designated uses include meeting preparation, financial plan updates, analytics, and drafting client follow-up for advisor review. The FAQ also describes Schwab Advisor Services as the leading custodian for independent registered investment advisors.
“Anthropic is building AI at the frontier of what’s possible,” said Jon Beatty, head of Schwab Advisor Services. “Bringing this solution directly to our clients, purpose-built for the environment they operate in, is how we help advisors claim the next frontier of advice.” Beatty said independent advisors have always succeeded on the strength of their relationships, built on advice, service, and client experiences that stand apart, and that AI is exponentially powering the ability of advisors to stand apart, even more so when it is integrated with the proprietary workflows and tech stacks advisors have already built.
Peter Nolan, head of asset and wealth management at Anthropic, said: “Our goal is to bring the benefits of AI to as many families as possible, and a direct path runs through the advisors they already trust.” Nolan said working with Schwab brings Claude to the firms doing that work every day, starting with a clear view of what has changed for each client. Alison Dooher, head of AI for Schwab Advisor Services, said AI takes on more of the work that pulls advisors away from their clients so they can spend their time where it counts.
Schwab Advisor Services provides custody, trading, and support services of Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., member SIPC, to independent investment advisors and Charles Schwab Investment Management, Inc., according to the release’s disclosures, which also state that independent investment advisors are not owned by, affiliated with, or supervised by Schwab.
Anthropic’s Product Description and Compliance Terms
Anthropic presents the offering on its financial services solutions page, stating that Claude connects to custodian, portfolio, planning, and CRM systems plus the tools advisors use to communicate and sign. A plugin tailors Claude to advisor workflows including client onboarding, meeting preparation and follow-up, account opening, portfolio reviews, proposals, and compliance reviews, with review steps and an audit trail built in. Anthropic states the product comes configured for independent practices, with the connections, workflows, and approval steps a firm needs from day one and a guided path to get every advisor on it.
Anthropic also states that every output is source-attributed so teams can verify work before acting, and that Claude meets the compliance requirements risk committees expect, including SOC 2 and FedRAMP. The page lists pre-built integrations with LSEG, FactSet, S&P Global (SPGI ), Morningstar, and more, and schedules a live walkthrough of the connectors and advisor workflows with the team that built them for Friday, September 18, 2026, at 8 a.m. Pacific and 11 a.m. Eastern. A separate statement from Beatty on Anthropic’s page describes the collaboration as connecting trusted data, powerful intelligence, and everyday workflows within the tools RIAs already use. The page also carries statements from Jaime Magyera, head of BlackRock’s US wealth and retirement businesses, and Daniel Gourvitch, president of Mercer Advisors, about their firms’ own work with Anthropic.
Anthropic at Schwab IMPACT 2026
Anthropic will join Schwab at the upcoming Schwab IMPACT conference, where RIAs will have a chance to learn more about how to get started and use the capabilities in their firms, according to the release. Schwab’s official IMPACT 2026 site schedules the conference for October 27-29, 2026, in Boston, Massachusetts, and describes IMPACT as Schwab’s premier RIA industry gathering. The published speaker lineup includes Beatty, presenting Schwab’s view of and commitment to the independent advisor industry, and Adam Moseley, Schwab Advisor Services’ director of artificial intelligence consulting within its business consulting and education group, on what AI means for RIAs.
