Mastercard Debuts Global Money Platform in First Major BVNK Integration

Mastercard and BVNK on October 15, 2026, launched Mastercard Global Money Platform, an infrastructure layer that combines Mastercard’s global payments capabilities with BVNK’s stablecoin infrastructure through a single API, according to a Mastercard announcement. The platform is available now through BVNK, and the companies said it marks the first major integration of their capabilities since Mastercard’s acquisition of BVNK in August 2026.
The companies describe Global Money Platform as a modular infrastructure layer for modern finance. Banks, fintechs and enterprises can embed multi-currency accounts holding fiat and stablecoins, real-time conversion, stablecoin-linked cards and local bank payouts through Mastercard Move into their own products and under their own brand. They can also use the platform to manage their own treasury, payments and settlement activity directly, starting with the capabilities they need and adding more as they become available instead of integrating a separate provider for each part of the money journey.
Payments company Nuvei and card-issuing platform Marqeta will be among the first to integrate Global Money Platform, alongside Ontop, Beem and Almond FinTech. Mastercard (MA ) said the platform will let customers move more seamlessly between traditional currencies and stablecoins while expanding choice in how they accept, manage and move money across markets. The announcement offers the example of a manufacturing business that receives multiple currencies and pays global suppliers, a flow that today involves separate accounts, vendors and pre-funded balances across markets, tying up working capital and slowing operations; Mastercard said the platform gives such a business a single place to manage liquidity, move between fiat currencies and stablecoins, and handle receivables and payouts.
Nuvei chair and CEO Phil Fayer said stablecoins are becoming an increasingly important part of the future of global commerce and that Nuvei’s work with Mastercard and BVNK will help bring the capabilities to more businesses. In a companion post published by BVNK, Fayer said the platform gives Nuvei the tools “to continue building products that offer our customers that choice and interoperability, without the need to stitch together multiple infrastructure partners.”
Chris Harmse, BVNK’s co-founder and chief business officer, said in the launch announcement: “With Global Money Platform, we’re delivering on our promise to connect BVNK’s technology with the scale and trust of Mastercard.” He said the platform will become the single infrastructure layer not just for stablecoins but for every form of money, and that it will let enterprise customers such as Nuvei, Ontop, Beem and Almond FinTech build global financial products at scale without building the underlying infrastructure themselves. Raj Dhamodharan, Mastercard’s executive vice president for blockchain and digital assets, said the platform brings together Mastercard’s payment infrastructure and reach with BVNK’s stablecoin capabilities, giving businesses a single foundation to move value across traditional and digital ecosystems, and called the launch an important step in bringing the company’s multi-money strategy to life.
Accounts, Payouts and Card Spending
At the center of the platform is the global money account, a multi-currency account where fiat and stablecoins sit side by side with conversion between the two through a single API, alongside configurable rewards and other account features. The BVNK post, co-authored by Harmse and Dhamodharan, describes the embedded accounts as capable of carrying balances in fiat or digital currencies, with custodial and self-custodial options, real-time conversion and rewards on eligible balances. Fintechs and technology platforms can embed the accounts into their own platforms to give customers one place to hold, convert and pay out earnings. Financial institutions can extend stablecoin capabilities and global reach to existing customer accounts while maintaining full client ownership, while acquirers, payment service providers and digital platforms can accept stablecoins, settle card transactions in real time and reduce pre-funded working capital, according to the post.
The platform integrates Mastercard Move, Mastercard’s portfolio of global money-movement capabilities, which the company says reaches more than 17 billion endpoints. Users can leverage stablecoin balances to make local-currency payments directly into recipients’ local bank accounts, with coverage expected to expand to more than 40 currencies across more than 200 countries and territories in 2027, according to the launch announcement. The BVNK post states that payouts can be funded in fiat or stablecoins and settled directly into recipients’ domestic bank accounts. The announcement states that for spending, customers will be able to use stablecoin balances across Mastercard’s global acceptance network of hundreds of millions of merchant locations, with card issuing available across more than 130 countries.
Through the same integration, businesses gain access to an expanding ecosystem of more than 20 blockchain networks and payment rails, including new additions Stellar, Arc, Monad, Plasma and Tempo, as well as stablecoins USDC, USDG and OUSD, without requiring additional developer work, according to the post. The post, citing a Boston Consulting Group white paper, states that digital currency payments for goods and services have reached at least $350 billion in annual volume.
Deal Background and Stated Roadmap
The launch follows Mastercard’s definitive agreement to acquire BVNK, announced March 17, 2026, for up to 1.8 billion U.S. dollars, including $300 million in contingent payments. At announcement, the transaction was subject to regulatory review and other customary closing conditions and was anticipated to close before the end of 2026. Mastercard completed the acquisition on August 3, 2026. BVNK was founded in 2021, and at the time of the agreement its platform enabled customers to send and receive payments on all major blockchain networks across more than 130 countries.
At the closing, Mastercard chief product officer Jorn Lambert said digital currencies, particularly stablecoins, are increasingly addressing real-world needs in areas such as cross-border B2B payments, remittances, payouts, settlement and treasury flows.
Mastercard describes Global Money Platform as a full-stack, modular toolkit spanning send, receive, convert, store, spend and earn, designed for a multi-money future in which new forms of money, networks and payment models continue to emerge. That design includes future support for agentic commerce and additional regulated forms of money, including tokenized deposits, according to the announcement.
