Acer Q3 Net Income Rises 92.3% to NT$2.13 Billion as Margins Expand

Acer announced on November 5, 2026 that third-quarter net income rose 92.3% year over year to NT$2.13 billion, its highest in five years, as revenue growth and wider margins lifted operating results. The company reports net income as profit after tax in its financial statements.
Revenue increased 25.1% to NT$91.82 billion, while gross profit rose 33.9% to NT$10.96 billion. The quarterly earnings presentation shows gross margin improving to 11.9% from 11.2% a year earlier. Operating expenses increased 19% to NT$7.96 billion, more slowly than revenue, helping operating income climb 100.7% to NT$3.02 billion. Operating margin expanded to 3.3% from 2.1%.
The improvement was narrower below the operating line. Profit before tax increased 44.3% to NT$3.92 billion, while non-operating income declined 26% to NT$895 million. That drop helps explain why pre-tax profit grew much more slowly than operating income. Net-income margin improved to 2.3% from 1.5%.
Sequential results further separate the operating momentum from bottom-line growth. Operating income rose 69.5% from the second quarter, but net income slipped 2% from NT$2.17 billion as non-operating income fell 58% from NT$2.11 billion.
Nine-Month Earnings Show Broader Gains
For the nine months ended September 30, 2026, revenue rose 24.0% to NT$249.55 billion and operating income increased 71.1% to NT$5.61 billion. Operating margin reached 2.2%, compared with 1.6% a year earlier. Net income climbed 84.8% to NT$5.01 billion, while earnings per share increased to NT$1.67 from NT$0.90.
The nine-month cost pattern differed from the third quarter’s. Operating expenses grew 27.6% to NT$23.20 billion, faster than revenue, but realized gross profit rose 34.4% to NT$28.75 billion. Gross-profit growth therefore outpaced both sales and operating costs, supporting the sharp increase in operating income.
Businesses other than personal computers and displays contributed 34.7% of total revenue in the first nine months. Within the product disclosures, PC revenue grew 21.4% and commercial lines grew 34.2% over the same period. The quarter also includes a consolidation change: Acer has consolidated Posiflex Technology since July 2026, and the presentation does not quantify its separate contribution to growth.
Inventory and Short-Term Borrowing Increase
The earnings expansion came alongside a substantial balance-sheet build. Inventories reached NT$97.27 billion at September 30, 2026, or 32% of assets, compared with NT$53.73 billion, or 21%, a year earlier. Notes and accounts receivable rose to NT$79.49 billion from NT$63.66 billion.
Cash and cash equivalents declined to NT$24.60 billion from NT$30.12 billion, while short-term loans increased to NT$39.61 billion from NT$14.39 billion. Those movements qualify the earnings momentum: Acer is generating more operating profit, but it also has more funds tied up in inventory and receivables and greater reliance on short-term borrowing. Sustaining the margin gains while managing that expanded working-capital position is the central financial question carried into subsequent quarters.
