MOSS is an initiative centered around combatting climate change.  The company does this through what it calls ‘climate tech’.  Climate tech refers to the simplification of carbon offsetting through the tokenization of Co2 credits.  To date, MOSS is already responsible for the prevention of over 2 million tons of greenhouse gases being released.

These regulated and verified credits are generated /earned by environmental projects following VCS.  Credits can then be purchased by polluting companies as a means of ‘offsetting’ any harmful activity, funding further projects in the process.

MOSS wants to take this process one step further by establishing a robust carbon credit market.  This is being achieved through the tokenization and sale of credits to not only companies, but a wide array of investors.  These tokenized carbon credits are known as ‘MCO2’.    MCO2 are structured as ERC-20 tokens, built atop the Ethereum network.

Simply put, what MOSS does is allow for preservation projects to gain easier access to funding by building bridges to a broader investor pool.  By increasing the demand for such credits, it is believed that their value will rise, further incentivising other preservation projects to take up the cause against climate change.
